Fighters of the Pacific contains everything you need to play hours of battle over the Pacific Ocean: a huge modular board where aircraft carriers, destroyers, and a great number of aircrafts will fight each other. The game provides 10 different scenarios to play with, all also playable in Solo mode.
The carrier and aircrafts represent the forces of 4 real aircraft carriers fighting in 1942. On the Japanese side, there are the Akagi and the Kaga, that participated in the attack of Pearl-Harbor and the battle of Midway. On the American side, there are the USS Hornet and the USS Yorktown, that were participating in the Doolittle Raid and the Battle of Midway too.
Players direct each airplane in multiple fighter and bomber squadrons to lead attacks on the enemy’s carriers and island bases. No dice and rulers are needed, only dozens of airplanes and ships! A fast-paced and streamlined game mechanic plunges players in the heart of the battle: They move each plane individually on a hex grid, and when they maneuver to get an enemy plane in their sights, they must try to dodge or else take damage. Some airplanes can use torpedoes and bombs do destroy ships and ground installations.
Each airplane has its own attributes in terms of speed, armor, and special abilities, and each piece is illustrated as closely as possible to its historical counterpart to maximize the immersion!
