This is an outstanding old piece, with crisp, minutely detailed embossing over every inch of it's surface including the underside. The oval basket, a tight waffle weave, is restricted at the centre by a high arching handle formed by the braided chords around the top edge that come together and are bound higher with two smaller twines. The underside is fashioned as two branchletes, each bearing three leaves alternating with large flower buds. Remarkably heavy, this is not a fragile piece. This piece has some slight wear to the paint, as you can see in the images. Dimensions: 13cm height, 14cm wide, 8cm deep, 500g.
