Description
Antique Sampler reproduction for cross stitch.

Mary Ann Willcock's sampler reproduced by Sovereign Samplers has a stitch count of 270w x 364h.

The original sampler was worked on 46 count linen. Our model has been stitched on 46 count Legacy Linen ‘Jersey Cream' using overdyed cotton threads. The sampler has been worked entirely in cross stitch, using one strand of thread over two threads of linen, the verse has been worked over one linen thread.

Mary Ann Willcocks was English and almost certainly from central London. There is record of a Mary Ann Willcock marrying a Charles Cook in 1839 in the Parish of Saint George, Hanover Square, London. Both Charles and Mary Ann were residents of Brunton Street at the time of their marriage. Charles' occupation is listed as a Tanner and Mary Ann's father was a Porter. (Interesting fact - Queen Elizabeth II was born in Brunton Street.) No record of children could be found.

We hope you enjoy stitching this sampler and hope that you will join The Crewel Gobelin SAL, commencing October 2020 aiming for a October 2021 finish! Details can be found on our website www.thecrewelgobelin.com.au
