He was born in Cheltenham, England, in 1934, and following his attendance at Sherborne School and Oxford University, where he read Engineering, he emigrated to South Africa before moving to Australia. On retirement he obtained a Diploma in Professional Writing and Editing at the Centre for Adult Education in Melbourne. He now lives in Somers on the Mornington Peninsula, where he writes, plays music with his partner, Margaret, and enjoys his garden.
