BLUE CROSS FUND OUR DUMB FRIENDS LEAGUE TO HELP HORSES IN WAR TIME - First World War Propaganda Poster

First World War Propaganda Poster
Reproduced in full colour on quality 135gsm coated art paper
Size A2 (594 x 420 mm  /  23.4 x 16.5 in)

Poster produced by The Blue Cross Fund charity, formerly known as "Our Dumb Friends League", launched a Blue Cross Fund in 1912 and promotional posters were used to raise money. The fund raised £170,000 (the equivalent of nearly £6.5m today) for sick and injured animals during World War One.

During the Great War, the most common and important message was that of recruitment. As well as the ever-familiar 'Your Country Needs You' there were many other designs posted around the country. Many different tactics were used to encourage both men to enlist. Of course, you didn't have to fight to help the war effort. A large number of posters attempted to obtain money (for War Bonds) in order to fund the war. For women in particular, numerous posters were displayed showing ways how they too could help with the war effort.
