Constructed from nylon cords woven into a 16 thread plat producing a light and buoyant rope very suitable for spearfishing purposes. The tighter weave of the 16plat decreases towing drag and the potential for fowling in the reef is greatly reduced thanks to the increased buoyancy. It is also more tangle free than the previous 8plat models.

Float ropes (often called rig ropes), are a towing line that is typically connected from the speargun handle to a float or buoy. This combo ensures a spearguns are not lost to the ocean depths and offers a visual aid to help divers keep track of their dive buddies who are already down below.  In temperate waters (N,S,W,), where sharks are not a constant presents, fish captures are threaded onto the float rope using the speed spike (gill needle), which travel down to the float at the ropes end are towed there until exiting the water.
