ITALO is the latest and most modern train in Europe. The fleet consists of 25 AGV (Automotrice Grande Vitesse) trains.
The AGV is the successor to the TGV. Passengers benefit from more onboard space and the overall mass of the train is reduced thanks to its innovative engine which is distributed along the length of the train.
Passenger security is always of the utmost importance and as you would expect, the AGV design meets the latest European standards in safety.
With a focus on comfort, Italo coaches are:
Extremely spacious: +9 cm compared to other trains
Exposed to more natural light: 20 % more of the coach is made of glass than on other high speed trains
Air-conditioned throughout: without air flow being at the height of the windows
Equipped with comfortable, reclining seats made from « Frau » leather, which in most cases all face in the same direction to ensure privacy for passengers.
Italo trains boast greener credentials than most other trains as 98% of the train is constructed from recyclable materials and its energy consumption is 10% less than that of other trains of a similar size. Noise levels, both inside and out, are the same when travelling at 360 km/h on an Italo train as they are when travelling between 300 and 320 km/h on a different train.
